Thatâs
Not Funny! Sometimes the best laughter occurs when you are not
even trying to laugh. In fact, it happens when you are trying your best to
be serious and respectful, but somehow your funny bone gets tickled and
itâs all over but the laughter at that point. Since April Foolâs Day is
this month, your family might enjoy this new tradition·designed to make
you laugh! Have all of your family members sit in a circle with your heads
bowed. On the count of 3, everyone must look up into the eyes of another
family member and 3 rules apply: NO TALKING, NO SMILING and absolutely NO
LAUGHING. You only get to talk if you see someone with even the smallest
of a grin! Point at them and shout: ãThatâs Not Funny!ä Continue until you
really can play the game with no smiles at all.
Singin' Up a Storm There is something about
singing that makes everyone smile and let go of all of their inhibitions.
So why not set up a Karoke Night the first nice Spring night and let
everyone sing away with costumes and all! Choose an emcee for this event
and make sure everyone comes prepared with their musical numbers. They can
write their own lyrics, or they can lip sync to a song. Encourage each
other to have props and create a microphone out of a wooden spoon. Make it
even more entertaining by doing it in the nighttime with the lights low
and a bright flashlight to illuminate the stage. Have the emcee give out
awards at the end of the evening: best costume, best voice, best dance and
best overall performance.
Recipe for
Joy When something makes us feel good, pretty soon a smile fills
our face and before we know it, we are filled with an indescribable
feeling of contentment. This sense of satisfaction can be wrapped up in
one little word: JOY! Joy can be the isolated moment we feel when someone
hugs us. It might be the second the suns peeks out from behind the clouds.
Maybe it is the ongoing feeling of being loved and appreciated. Whatever
it is, JOY feels good and we should strive to have as much of it in our
lives as possible. This month of April, as you and your family start to
see the flowers bloom and the weather is warming up, what a perfect time
to ask the most important people in their life to write their Recipes for
Joy on a 4 x 6 card. Keep these moments of joy somewhere where you can
read them as a family, and at any time, feel as though all of you are
wrapped in a hug on a bright sunny day. |
